Fishing in Ucluelet BC with Wild Pacific Charters
On May 16th, 17th, and 18, 2013, my wife and I had the pleasure to go fishing off the coast of Vancouver Island near Ucluelet. We chartered with Al Boyd of Wild Pacific Charters. Al took us to two different locations one of them being Sail Rock. Our trips were only a couple hours each which is all you really need to catch your limit for two people. The first afternoon we even stopped to jig for cod and sea bass; that was also fun. The big thrill is definitely hooking up with a Chinook. We caught several in the 15lb to 19lb range and limiting out on every occasion we left the harbour. You can see photos of some of our catch on Al’s website.
Al Boyd has a new boat which he just purchased this past winter and it is quite large, impressive, and comfortable. I believe it’ a 300 Grady White Marlin, 30′ long with two 250hp Yamahas. It is fully equipped with all that is required to do offshore fishing. My wife and I thought he was very professional with his clients. He does all the necessary preparation for his clients, including cleaning all your days catch. Being an avid fisherman, I don’t mind getting my hands dirty when fishing, but he always seemed to be ahead of me. It was quite an experience. I would urge anyone looking for a fishing charter to contact Al Boyd for their next fishing experience.
I want to thank you personally for making our fishing adventure such an enjoyable experience!
You are not only a great skipper, but a excellent person to spend the day with.
I am already looking forward to another trip with you.
And so is Glenn.
We will plan a longer stay as I’d like to go out for 2 days the next time.
And I’ll bring gravol with my own bucket. LOL…………..
I’ve been on trips 5x now and on several ferry rides around the world & not seasick before.
Never say never will be removed from my vocabulary from now on.
I will gladly provide a excellent personal recommendation to any potential clients if you need a referral.
Keep your tips up. (-:
Had a great experience with Al. Very accommodating to a family of inexperienced fishers! Our family very much enjoyed the trip (three young boys – 10, 8 and 4). Al’s boat is very spacious and he is very experienced. Well worth the day trip!
